How do Prescriptions Work?

The clinician will assess you during a video-consultation. Prescriptions are issued where needed and Ebisu Health apply an additional Prescription Fee of £7  to the cost of the medicaiton. The clinician will send the prescription, electronically, to our Partner Pharmacy- RXLive once the consultation has ended. You will see a record of this in your medical notes, accessible through your Patient Portal.

RXLive will dispense the medication and arrange for it to be delivered to the address supplied on the prescription. If you prefer it to be delivered to an alternative address, please advise the clinician prescribing the medication and RXLive will be contact you to discuss this. The cost will include medication price, delivery and Prescription Fee. RXLive share our values and will try to keep the cost to a minimum. Charges will vary according to the medication prescribed.

An example of RXLive pricing;

5-7 day course of standard antibiotic, delivered by 24h Royal Mail = approximately £15-£22.  (includes medication, delivery and Prescription Fee).

Please Note:- This is an example only and we do not have any control over pharmacy pricing policies.

Who prescribes the medications?

All our clinicians can prescribe medicines. Our clinicians are either doctors or Advanced Nurse Practitioners with an Independent Prescribing Qualification. In some instances, an Advanced Nurse Practitioner may prefer to seek additional advice from the doctor before prescribing a medication and she will refer your case to the Duty Doctor. The doctor may choose to contact you by phone or arrange a video consultation if they wish to have more information. This service will not incur any additional costs.

What medication do you prescribe?

EBISU Health provide Urgent Primary Care Advice and Treatment for acute minor illness and ailments. This means we generally prescribe from a specific list of medications.

We can also prescribe limited emergency supplies of a patient's regular medication, if necessary. However, we can not guarantee our Partner Pharmacy will always have your medication in stock which may result in a short delay while orders are placed. We can only provide prescriptions for repeat medications if there is sufficient evidence submitted e.g. a letter or prescription from your GP surgery.

We do not prescribe the majority of Controlled Drugs. There are occasions when a short term supply of a mild- moderate pain relief is required but this will only be issued at the discretion of a doctor following a video-consultation. The final decision to prescribe will sit with the doctor and we adhere to strict guidelines. This is in the interest of patient safety.

When do I pay for my prescription?

RXLive will send you a link to arrange for payment of the medication. The cost of medication for a private prescription is usually less than the NHS Prescription Charge. RXLive will quote you a price which includes the cost of medication, the delivery/collection service and the Prescription Fee.

An example;

5 day course of antibiotics, delivery Fee and Prescription Fee = £15-£22

Can I get my repeat prescriptions here?

No. We only provide medications for acute illnesses. You should continue to receive your repeat prescription for regular medications from your registered GP.

We are able to provide an emergency prescription for a limited supply of your regular medication, if you have run out or forgotten to request a repeat order from your GP. We will only be able to issue this if you have submitted sufficient evidence e.g. a letter or repeat prescription slip from your GP which demonstrates you take these medications on a regular basis. We will not be able to fulfill repeat requests for this service.
